Production Enhancement. Reservoir Saturation Tool

Reservoir evaluation and saturation monitoring through casing by determining the relative amounts of carbon and oxygen in the formation by inelastic gamma ray spectrometry.

These are the typical spectra obtained during the neutron burst with the far detector in a water and an oil. The carbon signature in the oil spectrum and the oxygen signature in the water spectrum are easily identified.

This technique reveals hydrocarbon zone with the thickness as low as 70 cm and can lead to production enhancement through revitalizing of previously uneconomical zones behind the casing.
